Dear St. Thomas Family:
We have reached our last day of school for this year! I hope you and your family have a blessed and safe summer.
We have received some good news this week: First, let’s congratulate 7th grader (soon to be 8th grader!), Isidro Jiz who was selected to join an elite group of students in Washington, D.C. this summer at Envision’s Junior National Young Leaders Conference. Isidro was nominated by Mrs. Murray who saw his leadership and scholastic skills. He will have a great opportunity to develop himself and his skills and values as he makes new friends with other students like himself.
2) We received our 6 year accreditation this week from WCEA. This means that St. Thomas the Apostle School has been recognized as a quality Catholic school that is dedicated to our students’ education and growth in faith, academics, and character.
3) We are the grateful recipients of a sizeable Technology Grant! We haven’t been given all the details yet, but we foresee some dramatic changes in our classrooms. We do know it includes a significant upgrade to our internet connection and some nifty new educational equipment for our classrooms.
We are going to make some changes with lunch next year. Since no one has volunteered to Chair the Hot Lunch program on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and only two people responded to my question about whether parents were interested in bringing in the new lunch company, we will bring in the new company on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They will provide their own workers. We will still keep Olivia’s at least once a month, and Subway will still be available, at least on Mondays and Fridays, but Mrs. Belme has chaired so many things for us that she needs to clear this job from her plate and make room for the other things she still does.
Please stay safe over the summer. We thank you for being so supportive to the school this year. See you back on Aug. 19th (half-day)!
God Bless you all,
Dr. Dian Pizurie, Principal
