Dear St. Thomas Family:
It has been an exciting week: Our student, Isidro Jiz, placed third in the Diocesan Spelling Bee on Tuesday. We are very proud of him for representing St. Thomas School so well. On Thursday, despite the rain, we had a great time celebrating St. Valentine’s Day with a special lunch and games played with our Friendship Partners. The rain has added a real spirit of adventure to every day as we try to stay dry and avoid the puddles.
I want to thank our parent volunteers, our aides, and all teachers and staff for being so patient with the wet coats, umbrellas, and boots that have been a product of all this rain! The students have tried their best to be good sports about playing in the hall or a classroom instead of being out on the playground during recess and lunch, and all we adults are impressed by their good behavior despite being cooped up most days. Good job, Everyone! Today we had a bit more sunshine, so we have been outside at last!
Read-a-thon is in full swing with a total of about 180 books read by our students so far. Two more weeks to go, so let’s keep reading to exercise our brains and maybe earn one of those Barnes & Noble gift cards!
Also in two weeks, Family Fun Days will be here! We experimented this year with trying for weather that is not so hot as the October dates have been. We will still have all the fun, games, BINGO, jumpers, raffles, entertainment, and FOOD that we love about this event. Don’t forget to turn in your raffle tickets. Do join us on Saturday, March 2nd and Sunday, March 3rd for one of the best events of our year!
The week leading up to Family Fun Days will see us being visiting by our Accreditation Team. On February 25, 26, 27, the team will be on campus to verify and affirm that we are a Catholic school worthy of the name, one that provides an academic, spiritual, emotional, and physical education that enriches our children and ensures them a strong foundation for their Faith and for their lives.
No School on Monday, February 18, Presidents’ Day! Enjoy!
