Dear St. Thomas Family:
November seems to be our month to express gratitude. Thanksgiving, of course, will be upon us soon, and the holiday's very name indicates that we should take time to reflect on our blessings.
Our Student Leadership sponsored a drive to collect boxes of stuffing for a group doing Thanksgiving dinners for those in need. they did a great job advertising the project, and we hit our goal of 160 boxes of Stove Top stuffing mix this morning!
Every Friday this year we will dress either in jeans and St. Thomas shirt or "free dress" for a donation. ALL donations from these Friday events will go to either our Parish poor box or another worthy cause. When we involve our children in these opportunities to share and give, we hope they will begin to develop the habit giving out of gratitude that will continue throughout their lives.
This trimester is drawing to a close. Report cards will be available at your parents conferences. Please encourage your student to keep working all the way up to the end. It is too easy to let the holidays distract from the important business of school.
Please place your orders for our current fundraiser, Mary & Martha products. Our Book Fair will take place next weekend in the Parish Hall. We have had to cancel our Breakfast on November 17th due to a conflict of events, but the Book Fair will be there Saturday through Tuesday morning. Stop by and pick up some great Christmas gifts while you also help the school. We earn both money and points for what we sell at the Fair. This past year's Book Fair earned us enough points to refresh several classroom libraries and add Builders and science kits for the lower grade classrooms.
Mrs. Ochoa is hosting a special bus trip to Harrah's on the Monday before Thanksgiving. Contact the school office for information and to make your reservation.
Monday is Veteran's Day. School will be closed. Enjoy the long weekend and take time to remember those who fought to keep us safe.
Blessings, Dr. Dian Pizurie, Principal
